Pretty informative and interesting. Coney Island was not a peaceful retreat from everyday life,like Central Park, but a lively, dangerous controlled danger place to experience, not relax.

Fascinating, short book detailing social history of Coney Island at the turn of the last century. Lots of great photos. He mixes description of rides and parks and entrepreneurs with cultural history using a light touch, made even lighter with the extensive pictures.
